Privacy Policy
CBC Kids – ABC, Colouring & 123 (free, with ads) and CBC Kids Pro – ABC, Colouring (paid, no ads)
Developer: Dev Byte · Last updated: 14 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information our children's learning apps collect, how it is used, and the choices parents and guardians have. It covers both apps, which we call "the Apps". The Apps are made for young children to use with the knowledge of a parent or guardian, so this policy is written mainly for parents and guardians.
The two apps at a glance
| CBC Kids – ABC, Colouring & 123 (Free) | CBC Kids Pro – ABC, Colouring (Paid) | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free | One-time paid purchase through your app store |
| Advertising | Contains ads (Google AdMob), set up for children's content | No ads |
| Analytics | Limited, anonymous usage and crash data | Limited, anonymous crash and performance data |
| Accounts or sign-in | None | None |
| Personal information collected by us | None | None |
Information we collect
We do not ask for, and the Apps do not require, a name, email address, phone number, home address, photo, voice recording, precise location or any account or sign-in. The Apps have no chat, forums, public profiles, leaderboards or other features where a child could share information with other people.
Stored only on your device. Progress, settings and colouring artwork stay on your device. We do not receive this information. Deleting the App removes it.
Collected automatically. To keep the Apps working and to show ads in the free app, our service providers may automatically receive limited technical information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, approximate region (from the IP address), crash reports and basic usage events (for example, which activity was opened). We use this information in aggregated, anonymous form. We do not use it to identify an individual child.
How we use information
We use the limited information described above to:
- provide, maintain and secure the Apps;
- find and fix bugs and improve performance and the learning experience;
- show ads in the free app, which allows us to offer it at no cost; and
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not use information to build profiles of children, to send marketing messages, or to show interest-based advertising.
Advertising (free app only)
CBC Kids – ABC, Colouring & 123 shows ads served by Google AdMob. Because the app is designed for children, we configure ads for child-directed treatment: personalised (interest-based) ads are switched off, and ads are not targeted using advertising identifiers or a child's behaviour. Ads may open an external website or store page when tapped, so we recommend that a parent or guardian supervises use of the free app.
CBC Kids Pro does not show ads and does not include any advertising service. Buying it removes the ads that appear in the free app.
Analytics
The free app uses Google Analytics to help us understand, in aggregate, how the app is used and where it crashes. It is configured for children's use, with advertising features and ad personalisation disabled. CBC Kids Pro does not display ads and collects only anonymous crash and performance information needed to fix problems.
Third-party services
| Service | Used in | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdMob | Free app only | Serving ads |
| Google Analytics | Free app (and anonymous diagnostics in Pro) | Aggregated usage and crash information |
| Google Play / Apple App Store | Both apps (purchase of Pro) | Downloads and payment. We never see your card or payment details. |
These services have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to read them. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Children's privacy
The Apps are directed to children, including children under 13. We take this seriously and design the Apps to follow children's privacy laws, including the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provisions on children's data, and Google Play's Families Policy.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
- The Apps have no accounts and no features that let a child contact others or make information public.
- Third-party services used in the free app are configured for child-directed use.
- If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Parents and guardians may ask us what information, if any, we hold about their child, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop collecting it, by emailing the address in the Contact Us section.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell, trade or rent personal information. We share limited technical information only with the service providers listed above, and only so they can provide their services to us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety and rights of users, the public or ourselves.
Data storage, security and retention
Data created in the Apps is stored locally on your device. Where technical information is sent to our service providers, it is transmitted using appropriate security measures. We do not keep personal information about children. Information held by third-party services is kept according to their own retention policies.
Data transfers and corporate changes
Dev Byte and its service providers may store or transfer technical data within or outside the EU/EEA, the UK and the United States, in compliance with applicable law. If Dev Byte is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, data may be transferred, and this Privacy Policy will continue to govern its use.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you or your child may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because we do not collect personal information through the Apps, there is usually little to provide, but we will respond to every request. Contact us using the details below.
Compliance and complaints
We regularly review our compliance with this Privacy Policy. If you send us a written complaint, we will contact you to try to resolve your concerns, and we will cooperate with data protection authorities where needed.

Updates to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date above. If a change significantly affects how children's information is handled, we will give parents and guardians notice and, where the law requires, ask for their consent before the change applies.
